She has rocked cameras on tours with Eminem, Kanye West, David Gilmour of Pink Floyd and Imagine Dragons. She is currently part of the crew on this summer's hottest tour, Jay-Z and Beyonce’s “One of The Run II.” Bertrand describes her experience one of the biggest shows she ever worked on! On this week’s episode of the Art of Music Tech, Fela returns home from Christian Mcbride's New Jawn European tour. Fela and Denis talk about their busy schedule and having no time to waste as they prepare to record for an upcoming project for Atlantic Records. This episode gives listeners an inside look on working what gear will be used for the legendary client and methods on how to improve recordings. They suggest, Eclipse Speakers TD-M1 bookshelf powered monitors for mixing in an apartment or basement studio. The high fidelity monitors are made in Japan and can be used for mastering audio as well. Fela and Denis conclude by talking about how to improve the sound of speakers, attending audio conferences such as NAMM and AES, portable gear, networking and making connections.

On this week’s episode of the Art of Music Tech, Fela is back in New Jersey before going to Europe for Christian McBride’s New Jawn Tour. Fela and Denis discuss high end audio gear in their New Jersey studio. The two audio experts share some of their favorite audio brands including Pueblo Audio, a California based audio company, and Abendrot, a Tokyo based audio company. Throughout this episode, the two hosts sample the different features of Pueblo Audio’s OLLA Direct Injection Box which is a stainless steel hybrid mono DI which features three modes; active, passive, and speaker. In addition, the two conclude the episode discussing other audio gear such as Klotz and Wire World cables and Lewitt microphones.

On this week’s episode of The Art of Music Tech, we are continuing the interview of American jazz soprano, tenor and alto saxophonist Marcus Strickland. Today’s episode is taking place on the road while Fela is on tour with Christian McBride’s New Jawn, where Marcus is featured in the reed section. Marcus shares what is currently happening in his life, including working on his upcoming album that will be released around the end of this year/early next year. Marcus then shares his creative process of using guitar pedals with his saxophone to mix different combinations of octaves and effects for his albums. Marcus concludes this week’s episode with sharing his appreciation for Ben Kane, a sound engineer and owner of Electric Garden recording studio and Stan Squirewell, an artist who is currently working on his upcoming album’s art.

On this week’s episode of The Art of Music Tech, Fela is interviewing American jazz soprano, tenor and alto saxophonist Marcus Strickland. Today’s episode is taking place in Tokyo, Japan while Fela is on tour with Christian McBride’s New Jawn, where Marcus is featured in the reed section. Marcus is signed with the iconic Blue Notes Records and discusses his seven studio recorded albums. Fela talks to the Florida native about how his father’s musical background inspired him to take on the music industry. Marcus’s father was a former drum major and D.J., so growing up with a talented musician influenced him to pursue his career. Marcus also shares his interest in both jazz and hip hop, his additional passion for the bass clarinet, his transition from Florida to New York City, and his experience living in New York City for the past 2 decades.

This week’s episode of The Art of Music Tech features Director of Education and Programming at the National Jazz Museum of Harlem, Ryan Maloney. A friend and client to 23db Productions, Ryan joins Fela and Denis in New York for this week’s episode to discuss his life in the jazz industry. He shares that he grew up in Minnesota without a thriving music scene, however, with his talent and determination, he managed to have a very successful journey with jazz. Ryan Maloney received his Masters from Rutgers University - Newark in Jazz History and Research. With his degree, he began to serve the Newark community by engaging in fine arts education at Newark public schools. In addition, Ryan discusses other projects he has been involved with, and various musicians and composers he has looked up to, such as Teo Macero and Charles Mingus.
